John Berling Hardy is a seasoned professional problem solver and crisis manager with ability to operate in volatile environments across a wide range of industries and cultures. His approach is to penetrate beyond the surface to arrive at the root causes of complex problems in order to devise and implement practical solutions that last.

     On behalf of the lead secured creditor, John acted as interim CEO for a large food processing company in southern Hungary during the liberalization of the markets after the fall of Communism. This experience was the inspiration for my book on corporate restructuring.

     John has over 20 years of experience in the project management of luxury homes in Toronto. Included the full spectrum from development though design, product and finish selection, to site management.

     After articling with Price Waterhouse, John worked in the field of operational auditing with the office of the Provincial Auditor of Ontario. While there, he developed a new approach to operational auditing which shifted the focus from traditional control and compliance to facilitating transactional flow. This was primarily achieved by removing redundant controls and red tape, and moving key controls from inside to outside processes. Rapid improvements were observed in internal feedback, innovativeness, and employee morale.

     Although John's native language is English, he is fluent in Hungarian, and can converse in French and Italian; he also has basic knowledge of German language.
